Patron, MUMSA and the Research and Writers Club.
Dear Reader,
The Makerere University College of Health Sciences Students Association (MAKCHSSA) and Makerere University Medical Students Association (MUMSA)directly support the Makerere University College of Health Sciences Research and Writers Club. The Research and Writers Club has come up with a wonderful opportunity to allow for wider participation from the student body in the form of a weekly newsletter. The exciting thing about this weekly newsletter is that it will speak to the day-to-day occurrences and highlight issues of concern to build a reading and writing culture, and support and strengthen professionalism all to promote lifelong learning.
Enjoy reading!
Why the Newsletter? We are encouraging a culture of writing to facilitate science communication.
Our newsletter aims to showcase the outstanding research and writing skills of our students. We invite you to contribute any articles, essays, poems, or research papers that you have written. Your work will be featured in our newsletter providing a platform for your writing to be recognized and appreciated by your peers.
Additionally, the newsletter will contain news and updates from the college, information about upcoming events and conferences, and opportunities for research and writing fellowships. We hope this platform will provide a valuable resource for students to be interested in pursuing careers in health sciences.
To submit your work, please send an email to makrwcnewsletter@gmail.com with the subject Newsletter Submission. The deadline for submissions is every Friday at 5pm.

Dolly the lamb, a mysterious birth on a farm, a new era for Man Kind?
Dolly the sheep was the first mammal to be cloned from an adult somatic cell and was indeed a breakthrough in the field of biotechnology. The birth of dolly shocked the research community because although animals had been cloned before, creating a sheep from a single cell of a 6-year-old ewe was something many had thought impossible. Dolly was created using a process called somatic cell nuclear transfer, which involves taking the nucleus of a donor cell and transferring it into an egg cell whose nucleus has been removed.
